DEFENDING DEMONS SETTING UP WELL FOR PREMIERSHIP DEFENCE by Lawrie Colliver
Things are shaping up well for Naracoorte Football Club in 2010, according to their Senior Coach Brad Richardson. The defending Premier appears set for another strong season, having overcome Keith in the ‘09 Grand Final comfortably after disappointing losses to the Crows in 2007 & 08.
"We really want to keep things going this season, having had a good last 5-6 years at the club." Richardson says in what will be his 4th season at the helm, having taken over from 2006 Premiership Playing-Coach Dean Woosnam.
The team has been training well with good numbers coming out and according to the coach there are few youngsters pushing through for a spot in the senior side. "We'll have 6 or 7 colts coming up as well, some of them played an A grade game or two last season, which is good for our depth which is a bit better than last year" Richardson says.
AFL legend David Parkin was at Naracoorte recently for the races and while he was there took training. "David's philosophy is that it's not about defending the flag, but shooting for another title. New players will be involved so it's all about the future and grabbing flags while you can."
